 | The Pine Cone Series was inspired by a number of factors.
One was observing a child playing with a paint brush. He was making short, choppy strokes that brought pine cones to mind. Another was the influence of South Korean potters that I was lucky enough to visit in their studios. Many of them did a great deal of carving into their pieces which I found very beautiful.
The pine cones on my work are all hand carved and have glaze applied, sponged off and reapplied to highlight the cones. |
